I'm Going on Hiatus
Hi all!
Following the Government's latest call for a greater need to take social distancing measures seriously amid our fight against COVID-19, I will be suspending all community outreach initiatives and projects on Pulau Ubin indefinitely - this includes WUJ Kampung Clean-Up, "WUJ Wan Go Jalan?" and Kampung Sungei Durian Musollah/ Community Gallery Project.
I will also be on hiatus for a while, which means that you will not see any new posts - be it on the blog or on social media - for quite some time as well. Do not worry about me, I will be fine in due time; but before I leave, I would like to leave the following message:
Ubin businesses continue to be significantly impacted by the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. I urge any individuals who are healthy, and whom for the past 21 days, have not been linked or in close contact to those who have been found to be linked to known COVID-19 cases and clusters, to head down and lend a helping hand to our residents; your patronage in their businesses can and will help them tide through this uncertain time.
Please uphold strict personal hygiene and social distancing measures during your visit - this is because a majority of our residents are at least 60 years old and above, placing them within the extremely vulnerable subset of our community. Your sense of social responsibility can help protect their lives, too.
This is proven to be an unprecedented challenging moment in our lives. But this is also the time for us to stand stronger and more united as a community. Recognise that each and every one of us has a significant role to play in our nation's collective effort in the fight against COVID-19 and take pride in that.
Misinformation continues to be widespread. Always verify the sources with trusted news sites and relevant government portals before sharing the news, especially those that circulate on Whatsapp and on social media posts. In doing so, unnecessary panic - and the dangerous consequences that come with it - can be prevented.
Our frontline workers are constantly sacrificing their lives to keep Singapore safe, and the least we can do is to show our appreciation to them by being kind to them and to stop any acts of discrimination seen towards them. No amount of words can suffice in expressing my gratitude towards our heroes and heroines.
Look out for one another and strive to be the best of humanity. Be good to yourself, and be good to others. Stay clean, healthy, strong and united. Together, we can and shall overcome.
Stay safe and take care,
Wan
