BERITAmediacorp: 350 former residents, 'return home' to celebrate Hari Raya on Pulau Ubin

Over 350 residents, 'returned home' to the eastern island off Singapore to attend Pesta Raya@Ubin, thus reuniting ties of the 'Ubin people' which for many decades have been "cut off". BERITAmediacorp was invited exclusively to attend and witness the colours of the event which was initiated by Kawan Ubin and National Parks Board (NParks). HAVE NOT MET IN 20 TO 40 YEARS “If the place where we fell is cherished, what more where we played during childhood”. Oleh: Nurulkhasanah Agost BERITAmediacorp: Buat pertama kalinya, satu perjumpaan Hari Raya besar-besaran dianjurkan buat ratusan penduduk dan bekas penduduk Pulau Ubin. Seramai 350 orang 'Balik Kampung' ke pulau di timur Singapura itu bagi menyahut Pesta Raya@Ubin, sekali gus menjalin semula ikatan 'orang Ubin' yang sudah puluhan tahun 'terputus'. BERITAmediacorp diundang secara eksklusif menyertai inisiatif kendalian Kawan Ubin dan Lembaga Taman Negara (Nparks) itu yang berlangsung semalam (16 Jun) untuk menyaksikan sendiri warna-warni dan keunikan acara tersebut. 20 HINGGA 40 TAHUN TAK BERSUA Tempat jatuh lagi dikenang, inikan pula tempat bermain. Bagi sebahagian penduduk Pulau Ubin, tanah itulah sebenar-benarnya tanah tumpah darah mereka kerana dilahirkan di situ. Yang pasti, rindu ratusan 'orang Ubin' terubat rasanya, setelah mereka menyeberang lautan dan beramai-ramai balik kampung menyambut Hari Raya di sana - kampung asli terakh
